A two-day photography workshop aimed at beginners who have a desire to create eye catching images, achieved by mastering camera techniques. 

Who are you?

You are curious about photography or considering a career as a photographer, or maybe you are a content creator. Either way First Clicks London aims to give you a solid introduction to the basic camera settings that affect all aspects of image making.  

Who am I?

Hi, I’m Robert. I’ve been in the photography industry since 2001 after completing my Degree in 2000. For the last two years I have embraced teaching as part of my work. I have taught photography to teenagers at international summer schools and in Central London to adults. Please see the info page for more details about me.

The workshop is fun, social and fast paced. Delivered in an informal setting, with London Southbank being the primary location. You will be learning from myself. I have real world experience, so the knowledge I pass on can be applied directly to your learning. 

The workshop comes in two parts.

Part 1: Classroom based on day one. Getting familiar with our camera.

Part 2: On location for day two, putting into practice the theory and techniques learned on the first day. Enjoying the visual spectacle and vibrance that London Southbank has to offer.

Workshop Content inc. Practical Exercises

. Short introduction into the beginnings of photography including the movement of light.

. Cameras and the iconic photographers who used them.

. DSLR and Mirrorless

. Image Resolution 

. File Formats examples. 

. Lenses: Wide, Standard, Telephoto.

. ISO and Exposure.

. Autofocus.

. Shutter Speed

. Aperture and Depth of Field.

From experience I have noticed that students who own their own DSLR camera or fully manual Mirrorless camera will benefit more, rather than those using pro-compact cameras. So ideally your camera can accommodate a variety of interchangeable lenses. For example:

Canon Eos 2000D, Nikon Z5 Mirrorless.
